Official Introduction

What is mental health?

Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It is also paramount in helping to determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices (What is Mental Health, 2022).

There are many factors that contribute to mental health problems, such as biology, life experiences or even family history.

What does it mean to suffer from it?

Listening to someone talk about the various ways in which their daily life is affected by their mental health problems can feel as though they are speaking a foreign language unless you are someone who’s dealing with the same issues. In the same way it can also be difficult to come up with helpful solutions to aid someone dealing with those issues if you do not know how.

I suffer from mental health issues and my mind does a very good job of convincing me that my friends and my family do not care about what happens to me. It’s a constant fight to convince myself otherwise almost daily and the thought of talking to people about my feelings feels like a waste of time because a lot of them do not understand what I am going through so I end up keeping it all to myself. Though I have and understand some of the tools that could aid me during my deepest darkest most vulnerable moments of my mental health breakdowns it’s still difficult for me to utilize them effectively and maybe that’s why I decided to start this blog.

I understand people not understanding what I’m going through because with some things in life even if you understand what it means if you have never personally experienced it it can extremely difficult to empathize with someone who is actually in that particular situation or circumstance especially if you as the outsider have your own problems that you are dealing with on the down low. At the end of the day everything sucks.

Bare with me guys this blog will be trial and error.
